Coceres holds on for victory
Coceres has now won two USPGA tour events this year
Jose Coceres shot a final round score of 68 to win the Walt Disney Classic in Florida on Sunday.
The Argentine, who had a three-shot overnight lead, finished a stroke ahead of Davis Love III, who hit a 66. Jerry Smith - who hit a final round 63 - and David Peoples tied for third, one shot ahead of left-hander Steve Flesch on 19-under. Vijay Singh of Fiji, David Toms and Sweden's Jesper Parnevik were among seven players grouped at 18-under, while Tiger Woods was two shots further adrift.
Coceres' win ensured his second USPGA title of the season - his first was at the Worldcom Classic at Hilton Head. The 38-year-old played the first eight holes in even par, allowing Love, who had trailed by three shots overnight, to catch him. But three birdies in a row around the turn steadied Coceres' nerves while Love dropped a shot at the 9th. The Argentine's round was delayed 20 minutes at the 15th hole after a burst of torrential rain. A six-foot par putt at the last secured victory. Woods birdied three of the last six holes to finish joint 16th.
