Leader of the Pak
Se Ri Pak with the British Open trophy
Se Ri Pak: A superb last round won her the trophy
BBC Sport's Ken Brown looks back on Se Ri Pak's victory at the British Open at Sunningdale.

It was an outstanding round by Se Ri Pak, who shot a superb 66 to claim the British Open title.

She began the day in the best possible fashion - an eagle at the first - and no-one could match her score of 11 under par.

Two threes at the 17th and 18th put the icing on the cake - the last two holes had been especially troublesome for everybody over the past four days.

To round off a fantastic day for the Koreans, Mi Hyun Kim claimed second place for a unique one-two.

Australian Karrie Webb
Karrie Webb: Disappointing last day

Kim is such a tiny figure, she carries six woods in her bag. But for someone her size, she has a huge swing - longer than John Daly's.

And she hits the ball a long way. But she also possesses a wonderful short game, as well as a excellent attitude to the sport.

Catriona Matthew was the golfer most likely to chase Pak and she started off very well with two birdies to move from nine to 11 under.

But three putts at the sixth and 10th effectively ended her challenge as she struggled to catch up with Pak.

Missing the 10th was critical because she was level with Pak at nine under.

Once you get past the 10th, there are not that many more opportunities to hole birdies.

All the focus overnight was on Karrie Webb, who trailed Matthew by two shots after the third round.

Laura Davies pitches out of the rough
Laura Davies: Problems with rakes
But the Australian never really got going, a possible consequence of her exhibition match with Annika Sorenstam, David Duval and Tiger Woods.

She arrived late into the country - not the ideal approach to a major championship.

There was disappointment for Laura Davies, who suffered misfortune when her ball was blocked by a rake on the edge of a bunker.

Her chances were ended after the freak incident which cost her two valuable shots.

Overall, the tournament was a great success. The course was in wonderful condition, the crowds were great and the weather was fine, apart from the odd occasional rainstorm.

It also showed the Americans do not dominate the ladies game as they used to 10 or 15 years ago.
