Faultless Pak claims Open

Pak produced a bogey-free final round
Se Ri Pak recorded a final round of 66 to take victory in the Weetabix British Open at Sunningdale.

The South Korean had a two-shot lead over compatriot Mi Hyun Kim, a first for their country at any women's Major.

Kim registered a final round of 71 to finish on nine-under 279, with Laura Diaz and Catriona Matthew, Janice Moodie and Denmark's Iben Tinning all tied for third place.

Pak, who has won three other titles on the LPGA Tour this season, began the day in impressive style when she eagled the first.

I thought that if I finished the last three holes perfect I'd be in good shape

She took overall lead for the first time when she holed a three-foot putt at the 17th to move to 10 under.

None of the other leading contenders could challenge Pak, who was greeted by her smiling mother when she finished her round.

"My mother's crying. She makes me cry too," said Pak, who began the day four shots off the lead.

"There was nothing to lose and I was trying to go for it. It was the last day and the last chance for me.

"I just played and played. I thought that if I finished the last three holes perfect I'd be in good shape."

Catriona Matthew, the overnight leader, blew her chances of victory when she bogeyed the last for a 73.

Matthew: Disappointing final round
The Scot, who had started brightly with two birdies, admitted she was "very disappointed" after failing to make a serious final day challenge.

"I made a great start, but the putter never really go going," she said.

Karrie Webb, who was poised to attack the leaders at the start of the day, failed to make an impression.

She finished on five under after a disappointing round of 74.
