Montgomerie won his second tour event of the year
Colin Montgomerie kept his nerve to take his third Scandinavian Masters title after edging out Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter.

The Scot was challenged all the way by his British compatriots, but managed to hold on for a one-stroke victory at Barseback.

The win was a double bonus for the former European number one, who sealed his place in the Ryder Cup squad.

Montgomerie made life difficult for himself. He was four shots ahead, but bogeys on the last two holes ensured a tense finish.

Westwood could have forced a play-off had he birdied the 18th, but a par four put pay to his hopes of snatching a dramatic victory.

Montgomerie registered a two-under-par 70 for a 14-under-par 274 to take the £183,000 first prize, his second tour success of the year.

Leading final round scores in the Scandinavian Masters golf tournament on Sunday (British unless stated par-72):

14 under - Colin Montgomerie (72)
13 under - Lee Westwood (71)
12 under - Ian Poulter (71)
Joakim Haeggman (Swe) (72)
Jarmo Sandelin (Swe) (72)
Adam Scott (Aus) (72)
Warren Bennett (72)
Dennis Edlund (Swe) (72)
11under - Thomas Bjorn (Den) (72)
Soren Hansen (Den) (72)
Peter Hanson (Swe) (72)
Peter Hedblom (Swe) (72)
