Pak clinches third crown
Se Ri Pak
Se Ri Pak: Third title of the year
South Korean star Se Ri Pak birdied the final two holes to win the Jamie Farr Kroger Classic on Sunday.

After being caught for the lead, Pak finished strongly for a two-stroke victory in the LPGA Tour's $1m tournament.

It was the third win of the season and third in four years at this event for Pak.

The South Korean star fought off challenges from several players - notably Maria Hjorth - and played her best golf when she had to.

I knew there was great players behind me

Hjorth birdied the final hole to complete a seven under par 64 and move into a tie for the lead at 13-under.

However, Pak still had a pair of par five holes to play and made the most of them.

On 17, her second shot left her in the low rough about 15 feet off the green.

She promptly chipped within three feet and sank the putt for a birdie and the lead.

"I knew there was great players behind me," Pak said. "I knew I couldn't lose focus."

She played it safe at the 532-yard 18th, hitting her drive and second shot down the fairway.

She followed with a beautiful wedge to eight feet and finished with a flourish by knocking in another birdie.

Pak fired a three-under 68 for a four-round total of 15-under 269. She was eight shots off the tournament record she set in 1998 but also avoided the playoff she needed to win in 1999. She was third here last year.
