Savage is miles apart
Robbie Savage

Birmingham's Robbie Savage may have to rethink claims that a move to Blackburn would bring him closer to his home town.

The restless midfielder has stated he wants to be nearer his parents in Wrexham.

But a quick visit to the AA Route Planner website reveals Birmingham is actually two miles closer than Blackburn.

A trip from the Midlands to Wrexham clocks up 73.8 miles, while the quickest route from Blackburn to North Wales is 75.8 miles.

Birmingham owner David Sullivan said: "We fully sympathise with Robbie if he needs to be nearer his family home. We have offered a chauffeur-driven car to take him to Wrexham any time he wants.

"But it's quite amusing to hear Birmingham is closer to Wrexham than Blackburn.

"Perhaps the answer is for Robbie to move somewhere between Birmingham and Wrexham and spend an hour commuting to training."
