Now that's what I call Old Firm: Vol I

Rod Stewart: Still a favourite with footballers
The rivalry between the Old Firm pair of Rangers and Celtic has spilt off the pitch and in to the hit parade.

No, they are not inflicting Christmas records upon us. Instead, the giants of Scottish football have released albums featuring the players' favourite tracks.

Both albums can be split into three categories of music genres - indie, R'n'B and ..well ...different.

Celtic boss Martin O'Neill has chosen The Byrds' version of Mr Tambourine Man for the 20-track compilation, while midfield general Neil Lennon stuck to his Northern Ireland roots by picking The Undertones' Teenage Kicks.

Bulgarian Stilian Petrov opted for Shut Up by four-piece rap combo Black Eyed Peas while goalkeeper Magnus Hedman chose Easy by Lionel Ritchie's former band, the Commodores.

Manager Alex McLeish shows his soulful side on the Rangers album by picking I Heard It Through The Grapevine by Marvin Gaye.

There is a heavy Scottish influence in music chosen by the Ibrox players, with striker Dado Prso going for Texas' I Don't Want A Lover, Robert Malcolm selecting Michael by Franz Ferdinand and shot-stopper Stefan Klos picking Snow Patrol's Spitting Games.

Both albums do feature artists that are as traditional as Christmas when it comes to featuring on footballers' playlists - Rod Stewart, UB40, Boyz II Men, Simple Minds, INXS, The Jackson 5 and James Brown.

There are a couple of selections that could be deemed as slightly leftfield, with Gene Pitney's Something's Gotten Hold Of My Heart tickling the fancy of Celtic's Chris Sutton and Vasco Rossi's Vado Al Massimo chosen by Rangers' Paolo Vanoli.

Surprisingly, there was no room for a Phil Collins or Tina Turner track - neither singer was available for comment.
