Beckham in the Pink?
David Beckham
Hollywood is the next step for this Theatre of Dreams graduate
England captain David Beckham has reportedly been lined up for a part in the new Pink Panther movie.

According to the Hollywood Reporter newspaper, the Real Madrid midfielder would have a cameo role as...a footballer if all parties were in agreement.

His publicist was not available for comment.

The paper suggested Beckham had been approached to star alongside Beyonce Knowles and Steve Martin, but had to resolve some scheduling difficulties before committing.

The new film follows a detective as he bids to solve the case of the murdered football coach and the theft of the Pink Panther diamond.

Due for release in 2005, it also stars Kevin Kline and Jean Reno.

If Beckham does get the part, his place as the world's most famous footballer would be well and truly cemented.

He did appear on the big screen in Bend It Like Beckham, but that was archive footage. This would be his first acting role.

Let's hope he doesn't have too many lines to learn.
