Rap star's Solid start
MC Harvey
Harvey's debut lasted longer than 21 seconds

Rapper MC Harvey is relishing his new role as left-back for AFC Wimbledon.

The So Solid Crew star almost had a dream debut in Saturday's 3-0 win at Chipstead, smashing the ball against a post in the second half.

Harvey, who was once on the books of Chelsea, said: "Music had been fun and a hobby but suddenly it took off.

"Before I knew what was happening, we had a platinum-selling album and seven top 10s. I was doing a film with Stephen Seagal and performing at the Brits and the Mobos - it was madness."

But football was always his first love and after a spell with Ford United, he has been reunited with a few old friends at Wimbledon.

"What you've done is basically bring a whole load of fruitcakes back together down here," Harvey grinned.

"Last week I was passing through Clapham Junction and I saw (team-mate) Paul Scott walking along looking at a picture of himself in the South London Press because he'd scored a goal!"

As well as football and music, Harvey is also filming a TV series and is on the books of a modelling agency, but has vowed to keep Saturdays free.

Coming soon...Snoop Dogg replaces David Seaman at Manchester City and Craig David solves the problem left-hand side role for England.

Ticket tape welcome at 1978 World Cup
Been there, read that

Fans get booked

The Argentine government is to hand out 400,000 books at football matches to encourage fans to read.

The football-themed publications are to be distributed between now and December as part of a campaign called 'If you read, you win'.

President Nestor Kirchner is confident the scheme will be a success, despite fears the books will be torn up and used for traditonal ticker-tape celebrations.

The awesome spectacle, which involves thousands of pieces of paper simultaneously thrown into the air by supporters, was made famous in the 1978 World Cup, hosted by Argentina.

The first of the 12-page books to be given away is called The Longest Penalty in the World, by Osvaldo Soriano.

Any fans unfortunate enough to experience games as tedious as Tottenham's 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough on Sunday will be glad of the distraction.
