One in a million
Arsenal's Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry
They only need to stop this lot
BBC Sport Online picks out some of the quirky, offbeat or plain daft stories doing the rounds.

One in a million

A Farnborough fan has pledged 1m to a hospital charity - providing his team win the FA Cup!

Lifelong supporter Sir Ray Tindle has shelled out 1,000 in bets on the Conference side beating Arsenal in the fourth round and going on to win the trophy.

He has 650 riding on Farnborough to beat Arsenal at 40/1, 250 for the underdogs to score the first goal of the game at 12/1 - and 100 on them win the FA Cup - at odds of 10,000/1.

If all three bets come off, Sir Ray, who owns the Farnham Herald local paper, will collect a profit of 1,029,000 - which he has pledged to the Patrick Appeal at Surrey's Frimley Park Hospital.

Looks like they'll be holding a few jumble sales this summer.

Mat's the way to do it

India has banned the ancient sport of sandpit wrestling, to try and keep pace with 21st century techniques.

The popular activity will now be replaced by grappling on mats - in-keeping with world standards.

Rajender Gulia, executive secretary of the Wrestling Federation of India said: "The decision to ban competitive sandpit wrestling is a drastic step toward modernising the traditional sport."

He believes it is the only chance India have of adding to their solitary Olympic bronze medal earned in wrestling, more than 50 years ago.

And at least it will stop them building castles when they get bored.
