In a League of his own
Mr Blue Sox insists he is serious
A rugby league fan has decided to show how committed he is to his club - by naming himself after it.

From now on, Damian Andrews wants to be known as Mr Halifax Blue Sox after changing his name by deed poll.

And he insists he is deadly serious.

"I'm very proud of my town and I have supported the club since they won the Cup in 1987," said Halifax, who works as a steward at The Shay.

"My friends were shocked at first and didn't believe me until I showed them the deed, but they are getting used to it now."

Halifax marketing manager Richard Hizzard said: "When he contacted us to tell us about the change, I can honestly say it was probably the most unusual telephone conversation I've ever had.

"The good thing is we have a range of clothing available that bears his new name."

Mr Bluesox, 29, who not surprisingly is single, is hoping his show of support will help Halifax into a top six spot in this season's Super League.
