1998: The Football Association decide not to proceed with disciplinary action against Brian Clough in the wake of a recent `bungs' inquiry because of his poor health. 1994: Britain fail to reach European Championship final of 4x100 metres relay after dropping the baton in the semi-final. 1948: Boris Stankovic of Yugoslavia went into the record books as the first soccer player to be sent off in a match at Wembley. He received his marching orders in the final of the Olympic soccer tournament. Sweden won the match 3-2. |
