1907: The first TT race on the Isle of Man took place, over 10 laps of the St John's Circuit.
1982: Diego Maradona moved from Argentinos Juniors to Barcelona in soccer's first £5m transfer. 1990: Maiden, skippered by Tracy Edwards, and with an all-girl crew, sailed into Southampton at the end of the Whitbread Round the World yacht race. The crew finished a commendable 18th. 2000: Tottenham Hotspur sign Neil Sullivan, Wimbledon's 30-year-old Scotland goalkeeper, on a free transfer.
