Why is the BBC Football iPhone app no longer updating? Thanks for downloading this app. It was built specifically for the 2010 World Cup and now the competition is over we'll be switching off the feeds that supply the app's data. We'll be launching more BBC Sport apps in the future so look out for information about these apps over the coming months. What is the BBC Football iPhone app? The BBC Football iPhone app brings you minute-by-minute updates from the big matches, starting with the World Cup in South Africa. It features live scores, statistics, match line-ups and text commentary. In addition, you can access the latest news, gossip and World Service audio, as well as insightful blogs from our extensive global network of journalists. You can personalise the app to follow your favourite team and can download stories to view when not connected to the internet. Why is the BBC iPhone app only available outside the United Kingdom? The BBC Trust has announced a review of the BBC's plans to deliver content via dedicated smartphone apps. The BBC will therefore not be launching news and sports apps for smartphones in the UK pending the outcome of the Trust review. However, the iPhone app is a commercial activity outside the UK and is not covered by the Trust review. The app has been released in the Apple App store by BBC Worldwide, the main commercial arm and wholly owned subsidiary of the BBC. BBC Worldwide's mission is to create, acquire, develop and use media content and brands around the world to maximise the value of BBC's assets for the benefit of the UK licence fee payer. How do I follow a live World Cup game on the BBC Football app? A message will be displayed on the home screen indicating that a match is in progress or due to commence. Tap on this link to be taken directly to the live text commentary, which will include key match incidents, expert BBC opinion and user interaction via Twitter and SMS. Alternatively select the match you want to follow from the fixtures list, and choose the live text tab. What if I have any problems seeing live text commentaries? If you are experiencing any difficulties in viewing live text commentaries or any other content, following these simple steps should resolve any problems. First check you are on a mobile internet or wifi connection. Then try shutting down the app and restarting it. If for any reason this does not rectify the problem, you may need to reinstall the app. How do I customise my home screen? To add a favourite team tap the "+" button on the home screen and then choose a team from the list by tapping the "+" next to its name. To remove a favourite team tap the "+" button on the home screen to access the list of teams and then tap the "-" icon next to the team you wish to remove. Alternatively, tap and hold down any icon on the home screen and tap the "X" in the top left-hand corner of the team you wish to remove. Then tap the "done" button to complete the action. Similarly, to re-arrange the icons, tap and hold down any icon on the home screen and drag the icon to desired location. Then tap the "done" button. How do I view the draw for the World Cup knockout stages? In the World Cup section, tap the knockout button in the top right hand corner. You can rotate your handset to view in landscape. How do I use the audio? In order to listen to audio, select "audio" from the home screen and tap the play icon next to your chosen stream. To stop the audio, just tap the icon again. You can listen to audio and continue browsing the BBC Football app. How do I get the BBC Football iPhone app? The BBC Football iPhone app is currently available to download in the Apple App Store. How much does it cost? The BBC Football iPhone app is free. The BBC will not charge you for downloading or using the app. Like the BBC Sport website, the app is funded by advertising outside the UK. However, if you access the app over a cellular network, your carrier may charge you for the amount of data you use. If you are unsure how much data costs on your tariff, please contact your cellular network operator. How do I remove the BBC Football iPhone app? To delete the BBC Football app from your iPhone first press and hold on the BBC Football app icon on the iPhone home screen until the icons 'wiggle'. In which countries is the BBC Football iPhone app available? The app has been released by BBC Worldwide, the main commercial arm and wholly owned subsidiary of the BBC. The BBC Football iPhone app is therefore available to download in all of the Apple App Stores outside the United Kingdom. Is there advertising on the BBC Football iPhone app? Yes. Because the BBC Football iPhone app is a commercial activity outside the UK, it will include advertising. On what devices is it available?
