Bashy signs for Your Game

Your Game matches community groups working with 16-25 year-olds to funding, training and employment opportunities. It does this through community festivals and year round support.

Twice MOBO nominated Hip Hop sensation Bashy has found time in his busy schedule to become Your Game's first official ambassador.

23year-old Ashley Thomas, aka Bashy's critically acclaimed debut album "Catch Me If You Can" has been shortlisted for the MOBO's Best Album. And with the soundtrack to Noel Clarke's box office smash Adulthood already under his belt Bashy has something of a Midas touch.

He performed at the London leg of Your Game 2009 and not surprisingly went down a storm. "I thought it was really cool, I really enjoyed it. I linked up with some of my friends, people who I actually talk to. Young people from my area were there playing footie so it was wicked."

"I got a massive reaction from the Your Game crowd. I was made to feel welcome and that's great that they feel what I'm doing and see how hard I'm working".

"I got involved with Your Game basically because I agreed with what the project is doing. It's providing help for people from my generation, helping local communities by giving them a space for them to do something and make a change.

"I've been given this opportunity to give something back. It's important that just because I'm acting and been nominated for this and that, that I'm still reachable, that I'm able to give something back to the community.

"Your Game is so important. It shows young people that they're appreciated, that there's something and somewhere for them to go because there's nowhere else for them."

Bashy is currently working on two films, Mo Ali's "Shank" and Noel Clarkes "4321". You can catch Bashy in the Jonzi D production of Markus The Sadist which tours all over the UK in October 2009.

Your Game is a BBC social inclusion project supported by Sport Relief.
