Bristol City 2-3 Watford
Micah Hyde
Hyde helped end City's unbeaten run
A last-ditch winner by Micah Hyde gave Watford victory against Bristol City in the Worthington Cup.

Watford had to come back from two goals down after Simon Clist's 48th minute header and Tony Thorpe's effort seven minutes later had put the home side in control.

Marcus Gayle began the Watford comeback when he converted from the spot after 73 minutes before Ramon Vega's 87th minute goal levelled matters.

It seemed extra-time was looming but Hyde had other ideas when his late strike gave Gianluca Vialli's side the win.

Unbeaten

Earlier it seemed like Clist and Thorpe had put Danny Wilson's side on their way to victory.

Clist headed in shorly after the interval and striker Thorpe volleyed City further ahead.

But Watford showed their battling qualities and pulled one back when Tommy Smith was fouled, giving Gayle the chance to convert from the spot.

And Vega and Hyde did the rest to end City's unbeaten run so far this season.

Watford: Baardsen, Cox, Vega, Galli, Robinson, Wooter, Hyde, Noble, Glass, Fisken, Noel-Williams. Subs: Chamberlain, Ward, Helguson, Gayle, Smith.

Referee: P Danson (Leicester)
