Rotherham 0-4 Bradford
Bradford booked their place in the third round of the Worthington Cup with a comprehensive victory over Yorkshire rivals Rotherham.

Despite making several changes from the side which drew with Sheffield United on Saturday, Jim Jefferies' men still had too much quality for the home side, who never recovered from the early dismissal of centre-back Rob Scott.

It did not take long for the tie to spark into life, with Bradford taking the lead from the penalty spot after just three minutes.

The hosts - without a league win this season - should really have been back on level terms within five minutes, when Bradford's Jamie Lawrence decided to head the ball back to his keeper through a crowded box.

Veteran striker Mark Robins, with five goals to his name already, was unable to get to the ball ahead of Aiden Davidson, but Richard Barker then somehow steered the lose ball wide from six yards.

Ronnie Moore then sacrificed his leading scorer when defender Guy Branston was brought on to replace Robins as Rotherham adopted a 4-3-2 formation after 16 minutes.

Inexplicable

Claus Jorgensen wasted a good chance at the far post on 23 minutes following nice close control from Robbie Blake in the six-yard box.

Rotherham then hit the self-destruct button on 28 minutes when Chris Swailes inexplicably attempted a back-pass to keeper Mike Pollitt when under no pressure.

The effort was tame to say the least and Andy Tod nipped in to the calmly slot pass the hapless Rotherham number one.

It was now one-way traffic, with the hosts in danger of being overrun.

And it was no surprise when Blake ghosted into the area - with the home side claiming offside - to lob the ball into the far corner on 34 minutes.

It was a tame opening to the second period, with Lee Makel's 20-yard free-kick which curled wide the highlight of a dour 15 minutes.

With 15 minutes to go the visitors chalked up a fourth goal when Jorgensen picked up a lose ball on the edge of the box and after drawing the keeper, unselfishly played a square pass for Lawrence to stab home from two yards.
