Player Profile
Findley is a quick and direct forward or winger who enjoyed a tremendous season in 2009. He scored a career-best 12 goals in the regular league season and added three more in the play-offs.
His form wavered in the middle part of the season but he finished the year strongly, scoring the equaliser in the MLS Cup final and then converting his penalty during the shootout to help Real Salt Lake win the title for the first time.
Findley’s form earned him a place in the US squad for the World Cup qualifiers against El Salvador and Trinidad & Tobago in September, although he did not play in either game.
He won his first cap for more than two years in January, starting against Honduras. His pace was a vital asset when national coach Bob Bradley was looking for an alternative to the injured Charlie Davies.
He has dual nationality with Trinidad & Tobago, where his parents were born. Findley once had a trial for Trinidad & Tobago’s Under-23 team but he says it convinced him to wait for a US call-up.
