Player Profile

Another Tabarez favourite, Scotti is a powerful defender who is strong in the air and calm under pressure. The 34-year-old can play anywhere across the back line or as a holding midfielder and, with his extrovert personality, is a popular member of the squad.

A late developer on the international scene, he only made his Uruguay debut at the age of 30. The much-travelled defender currently plays for Chilean club Colo-Colo, who he joined in January from Buenos Aires club Argentinos Juniors.

In a nomadic career, Scotti has also played for Mexican sides Puebla and Necaxa and with Rubin Kazan in Russia, as well as for Montevideo-based clubs Wanderers and Nacional.

His brother Diego is also a footballer and plays for Cordoba in the Spanish second division.
