Player Profile

‘Palito’ (little stick) is a left-back, wing-back or left-sided midfielder whose strengths are his speed and distribution from wide areas. He made his international debut in November 2008 against Group A opponents France and impressed so much he played in all 10 subsequent qualifiers.

Pereira's professional career began in his homeland with Miramar Misiones before moving to Argentina with Quilmes and then Argentinos Juniors. In 2008, Romanian side CFR Cluj brought him to Europe where some excellent performances in the Champions League caught the attention of Porto.

He has enjoyed a solid first season in Portugal, winning the Portuguese Cup and reaching the last 16 of the Champions League.
