Player Profile
Schwegler was called into the Swiss squad for a couple of World Cup qualifiers but did not play. The defensive midfielder has done well for Eintracht Frankfurt this season, having joined from Bayer Leverkusen last summer.
Schwegler played in the 2005 Fifa World Youth Championships in the Netherlands, under the captaincy of Philippe Senderos.
Despite opening with a 2-1 win over South Korea, Switzerland failed to get beyond the group stage.
His older brother, Christian, is a defender with Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg and celebrated the league title this season.
