Player Profile
Having made his international debut in 2007, Eggimann was overlooked for Switzerland’s Euro 2008 squad.
He quickly put that disappointment behind him with a £1.2m move to Hannover 96 from fellow German Bundesliga side Karlsruhe that summer, signing a five-year deal.
Hannover struggled in the Bundesliga last season, finishing just two points above a relegation play-off place.
He began his career with Swiss side FC Aarau. Eggimann spent part of last season warming the bench at Hannover but was praised by Hannover boss Andreas Bergmann, who has since lost his job, for fighting for his place.
