Player Profile
Born in Switzerland to Turkish parents, Inler is currently based in Italy with Udinese.
He has impressed in Serie A since his move from Zurich in 2007, and he has adapted just as well to international football since winning his first cap after the 2006 World Cup. His performances at Euro 2008 reportedly brought interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.
The Italian Gazetta dello Sport newspaper gave him their “best foreign transfer” award after he joined Udinese three years ago. But despite Udinese finishing a lowly 15th this season, the club have insisted the hard-man midfielder, whose contract runs until June 2012, is not for sale.
Inler’s first international goal came in his first full game, against Jamaica in March 2007.
