Player profile

He is a pacy right winger whose value has quadrupled following an impressive first season in English football. He was linked with an £8m move to Liverpool in April but says he is happy at Bolton. “It's a quiet place, but it's really convenient because it means I don't need to drive very far - I go in Tesco and I have my Clubcard, so I am very happy here”.

He has become close friends with Park Ji-sung since arriving in England, and often visits his international room-mate, who apparently cooks excellent Korean-style spicy chicken. Lee broke into the FC Seoul team alongside Ki Sung-yueng, now at Celtic. He has been a regular for Korea since making his international debut two years ago.

Bolton paid FC Seoul a £2.2m fee for Lee after being impressed by DVDs of his performances. His team-mates voted him Bolton’s Player of the Year in the 2009/10 season.
