Player Profile

The forward endured his worst goalscoring return for six years in 2009/10, mustering only four league goals for Gent in the Belgian top flight.

He has never been a prolific striker – averaging a goal every four games in nearly 200 career league appearances – but offers a physical presence and tireless running up front.

Ljubijankic was used mainly as a substitute in the World Cup qualifiers, but scored twice – as well as in the friendly defeat against England at Wembley last September.

He was named Slovenia’s Player of the Year by the country’s sports journalists in 2007 after scoring a career-best 10 league goals to help Domzale win the Slovenian title. He left for Gent the following year.
