Player profile
The central midfielder ended an eight-year stint in Russian football when he joined Greek club Larissa on a free transfer in January. He made 153 appearances in the Russian top flight for Shinnik and Tom Tomsk, scoring 11 goals.
He won his first three caps in 2002 and was then overlooked for six years until being recalled for the defeat to the Czech Republic in Slovenia’s fourth match of this World Cup qualifying campaign.
He started seven of Slovenia’s last eight qualifiers, acting as a more defence-minded foil for captain Robert Koren.
