The livewire striker has featured regularly in the past 18 months thanks to his excellent form for Kaiserslautern, who won the German second division this season.
Tipped for great things as a youngster, he now seems to be fulfilling his potential. Given his debut in the qualifying win against San Marino, he scored a late winner against the Czech Republic.
His contract at Kaiserslautern expires this summer and he has already agreed a deal to join Schalke as a replacement for Kevin Kuranyi. Schalke boss Felix Magath describes Jendrisek as a “quick and technically gifted forward who knows where the goal is”.
He started with Slovak side Ruzomberok before a loan spell with Hannover. But it was at Kaiserslautern that he made his name, scoring 34 times in 90 league games for the club. He netted 15 league goals, as he did 2009/10, to help his side win promotion to the Bundesliga.
