Player Profile
Operating from a wide right position, this diminutive midfielder offers a goal threat and is a potent crosser of a ball. He played in 14 of North Korea’s 16 qualifiers for South Africa, adding to the eight he played in the unsuccessful 2006 World Cup qualification campaign.
He became the hero of 100,000 fans at the Kim Il-Sung stadium in February 2009 when he scored the only goal of the game as North Korea secured a vital win over qualification rivals Saudi Arabia.
He has become the national team’s role model for self-discipline and is renowned for his formidable fitness and work ethic.
