Uche can play either as an attacking midfielder or as a striker, a role he has carried out at club level. He was Almeria’s top scorer this season, netting nine times in 28 Liga appearances as the club preserved their top-flight status.
He started the first two matches at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations before losing his place.
He joined Almeria in the 2005/06 season after spending four years with Polish side Wisla Krakow. The 27-year-old is the elder brother of Zaragoza striker Ikechukwu Uche, who failed to make the 23-man squad, having only recently returned from knee surgery.
