Blessed with pace, acceleration and creativity, the winger heads to the World Cup in the form of his life after a superb debut season at Bayern Munich. He hit 23 goals in 38 appearances as the German giants won the league and Cup double, but was disappointed in the Champions League final against Inter Milan.
Robben will be playing in his fourth major tournament having also represented the Dutch at Euro 2004, the 2006 World Cup and Euro 2008.
Robben has an impressive list of honours including league titles in the Netherlands, England, Spain and Germany. He scored 32 goals in 127 games for Groningen and PSV before moving to Chelsea in 2004. His three seasons at Stamford Bridge were punctuated by injury but he played an integral part in back-to-back title-wins.
After reportedly falling out with manager Jose Mourinho he was sold to Real Madrid for £24m in August 2007, where he won his third league title in three seasons.
Madrid’s massive outlay on Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Karim Benzema last summer led to Robben being sold to Bayern Munich for £21m, where he has been an immediate success, netting crucial goals against Fiorentina, Manchester United and Lyon as the German club reached their eighth European Cup final.
