Magallon is a solid centre-back with good technique and man-marking skills but he has been criticised for his aerial ability. He was handed his debut in 2007 by Hugo Sanchez and has remained a regular since, despite three changes of manager.
He started his footballing career as a defensive midfielder but was converted to a centre-back when he broke into the Chivas first team.
The defender struggled to make an impact early in his career and only made his top-flight debut in 2005 at the relatively late age of 23, having earlier spent time in the Mexican second and third divisions. He won the 2006/07 Apertura title (champions of the first half of the season) and was part of Mexico’s 2009 Concacaf Gold Cup-winning squad.
