Player profile
The highly experienced midfield hardman has won over 100 caps for his country and is one of coach Javier Aguirre’s key men. The Cruz Azul captain will be competing in his third World Cup and is a two-time Gold Cup winner with the national side. He has been voted best defensive midfielder in Mexico’s Primera Division four times.
Torrado began his career with Mexican club Pumas in 1997 and spent five years in Spain between 2001 and 2005 with Tenerife, Ejido, Sevilla and Racing Santander. He returned home with Cruz Azul in 2005 and captained the club to the last two Concacaf Champions League finals.
He is nicknamed ‘Borrego’ (the Sheep) for his unkempt curly hair.
