Player Profile
Known as ‘The Deer’ (El Venado), Medina is a speedy attacker who can play on either wing or up front. At his best when delivering crosses into the box, he has been criticized for his finishing.
His form in the World Cup warm-ups will have pleased Aguirre - he scored the winner four minutes after coming on against Senegal and then fired the only goal against Chile in the final warm-up match on home soil.
Medina made his debut for Chivas in 2000 at the age of 17. A one-club man, he has made over 200 Primera Division appearances for the club, winning the 2006/07 Apertura (opening) league title. His international debut came back in 2003 but he was overlooked for the 2006 World Cup.
A regular under Aguirre, he was part of Mexico’s 2009 Concacaf Gold Cup-winning side.
