A versatile full-back who can operate at right-back or on the left, Komano is an accurate crosser of the ball and his high work-rate and experience make him a key member of the squad.
He made his debut under Zico in 2005 and made one appearance at the 2006 World Cup, when he was unluckily denied a penalty.
Komano made his professional debut with Sanfrecce Hiroshima in 2000 and spent eight seasons with the club before leaving for Jubilo Iwata when Hiroshima were relegated in 2007. His career has been blighted by injuries - he suffered a cruciate ligament injury in 2003 and broke his collar bone at the 2004 Olympic Games.
