Player Profile

Kawasaki Frontale’s star midfielder is an excellent passer of the ball and is known for his distribution and ability to shoot powerfully from distance, although he has been criticized for being too lightweight.

The 29-year-old enjoyed a superb 2009 campaign as Kawasaki finished second. He has only recently returned to action after breaking his jaw in February in an Asian Champions League qualifier.

A one-club man, Nakamura is in his eighth season with Kawasaki. He has been named in the J-League Best XI four times (2006-2009) and was second behind compatriot Yasuhito Endo in the 2009 Asian Player of the Year award.

Nakamura models his game on former Barcelona and Spain great Pep Guardiola, although coach Takeshi Okada has urged him to assume a more attacking Steven Gerrard-type role.
