The right-back returned to the national set-up in February after a 12-month doping suspension for using a lip cream which contained the banned steroid clostebol.
Mendoza insisted at the time of the incident that his actions were innocent. 'I made an involuntary mistake as I didn't realise then that the cream was forbidden,' he said.
Despite his recall, he looks set to be on the bench in South Africa behind the more mobile Mauricio Sabillon in the right-back position. Mendoza has scored one international goal, against Venezuala in a 1-1 friendly draw in May 2008.
