Player profile

Tall, lanky and wonderfully named, Georgie Welcome was called into the World Cup squad as a replacement for Carlo Costly. He showed what he could do with an equaliser in the 2-2 friendly draw against Belarus.

He featured only briefly in the qualifying campaign, coming off the bench against the USA in the 2-1 defeat in Chicago.

He made his debut for the full national side in May 2008 in a friendly against Belize where he scored in a 2-0 win.

At the time he was playing for second division club Arsenal Roatan, making him the first player to be capped by Honduras while playing for a second division club. He is now with first division side Motagua.
