Player Profile
A fast right wing-back, Alvarez has played in Italy since 2004, most recently with Bari, who signed him from Roma in 2009. He has also had loan spells at Messina, Livorno and Pisa.
Alvarez was only used in four of the World Cup qualifiers, although he did start in their crucial final match against El Salvador, which Honduras won 1-0.
He also played a part in the unsuccessful 2006 qualifying campaign, scoring in the 4-0 win over the Netherlands Antilles in June 2004.
Alvarez has already experienced playing in a World Cup in Africa. He was part of the Honduras team that played at the 1999 Under-20 World Cup in Nigeria, where they failed to get past the group stage.
