Honduras’s captain and much-travelled record cap holder, Guevara is a veteran of four World Cup-qualifying campaigns and has finally enjoyed his first appearance at the finals.
Known as ‘El Lobo’ (‘The Wolf’) he returned to the Honduran league this season after several successful seasons in the American MLS.
Once an attacking midfielder but now tends to play deep, Guevara was voted MVP in 2004 when playing for New York.
Guevara has a fiery reputation - he was suspended for six months in Honduras for pushing a referee and, while playing in the MLS, received a two-match suspension after being sent off for elbowing an opponent and drawing blood.
He insists he has mellowed but only last month he was suspended for the second leg of the Honduran Clausura championship after slapping an opponent.
