Player Profile

Born in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mandanda started World Cup qualifying as France’s number one, but has since lost the jersey to Lyon stopper Hugo Lloris.

He made his international debut as a second-half substitute against Ecuador in May 2008 and was subsequently selected as France’s third-choice keeper at Euro 2008.

Mandanda began his career at Le Havre in 2005 and was linked with a move to Aston Villa before signing for Marseille in 2007. He has since made over 100 appearances for the club, and this season helped them win their first league title since 1992.

His younger brother Parfait, also a goalkeeper, plays for the Democratic Republic of Congo. Another brother, Caen, is the France U16 keeper.
