Player Profile
The powerfully-built striker burst into the limelight in 2008/09, finishing the campaign as the top scorer in Ligue 1 with 24 goals from 28 appearances.
The 24-year-old began his professional career in Ligue 2 with Lorient in 2004, but a loan spell at Pau FC the following year meant he missed out on their promotion season.
In 2007 he signed for Toulouse in controversial circumstances - Lille claimed to have agreed a contract with the striker, but Toulouse reportedly offered to double his salary and eventually managed to secure his transfer.
Gignac comes from a family of Spanish Gypsies and is wife is Manouche (the Gypsy population in France). His mother, Corinne, won 100,000 Euros on the French version of TV show Deal or No Deal in 2009.
