Player Profile
Jacobsen made 13 league appearances for Blackburn last season, having been signed a year ago after an unsuccessful 10 months at Everton, where he managed only four league appearances – three more than Denmark team-mate Per Kroldrup did during his time at Goodison Park. Like Kroldrup, Jacobsen’s spell at Everton was blighted by an injury (in his case a shoulder problem), although he did feature for them in the 2009 FA Cup final.
He started his career at Danish club Odense, making 112 appearances before switching to German side Hamburg in 2002. He went back to Denmark a year later to play for FC Copenhagen, winning three league titles before returning to Germany with Nuremberg, where he endured an injury-troubled 11 months prior to joining Everton.
An international since 2006, Jacobsen is primarily a right-back but can also operate at left-back. He played in all but one of Denmark’s qualification matches. He has never scored for his country and is still awaiting his first goal in English football. In fact, he never scored during his two stints in Germany and has not found the net since a goal for FC Copenhagen more than five years ago.
