The veteran claimed the third goalkeeping spot ahead of Independiente’s Adrian Gabbarini thanks to his consistent displays for Colon in the past year.
He may have to introduce himself to Europe-based stars such as Leo Messi - his first three Argentina appearances came in friendlies when only domestic players were selected. Handed his international debut against Panama as a 31-year-old, he kept clean sheets in the wins against Ghana and Haiti.
Born in Mendoza, he came through the ranks at Godoy Cruz, spending almost a decade playing second division football. He had spells with Huracan, Talleres and Instituto before joining Colon in 2008.
