World Cup 2010: Chile coach cautious despite win

Mark Gonzalez

Gonzalez breaks Swiss resistance

Chile coach Marcelo Bielsa warned against premature celebrations after his side maintained their 100% record with a 1-0 win over Switzerland.

Mark Gonzalez's late strike sent the South Americans top of Group H but Bielsa admitted that qualification could still go down to the wire.

"We haven't qualified yet, we still have Spain on Friday," said Chile's Argentine boss.

"I just hope that these six points can be the basis for qualification."

Chile need a point against Spain to ensure their passage to the second round but a defeat could lead to the group being decided on goal difference.

Bielsa's side were made to work for their solitary strike against the 10-man Swiss, who put up stubborn resistance after Valon Behrami's controversial red card, which Bielsa claims to have missed.

"I didn't see what happened from where I was standing and I didn't see it on the television afterwards so I can't comment," he said.

"But we had the advantage of playing with an extra player and we had lots of opportunities to score one goal."

The Chileans enjoyed plenty of possession but lacked a cutting edge until Liverpool winger Gonzalez rose to head home Esteban Paredes's cross 15 minutes from time.

"We had to be patient but we kept trying and now we can pretty much dream of the last 16," said Gonzalez.

"We are in a good position and we have one more game to prove ourselves even more."
