Chelsea and Spain defender Asier Del Horno is set to be ruled out of the World Cup through injury.
Del Horno joined Chelsea for £8m from Athletic Bilbao
Tests on Tuesday revealed Del Horno has torn a tendon close to his left ankle and will be sidelined for three weeks.
Spain will now send that medical report to Fifa and request that they be allowed to call up a replacement for the 25-year-old.
Del Horno, who has 10 Spain caps, was signed by Chelsea for £8m from Basque club Athletic Bilbao in June 2005.
