Saudi cash boost for Black Stars
Ghana players celebrate
The Black Stars play Brazil on Tuesday
Saudi prince Al-Waleed Abdul Aziz Al-Saud has donated US$100,000 to Ghana for their performance at the World Cup in Germany.

The Black Stars opened their Group E campaign with a 2-0 loss to Italy despite dominating for long periods.

The west Africans rallied and swept past the highly-rated Czech Republic 2-0.

They beat the United States 2-1 on Thursday to qualify for the second round.

Al-Saud made the pledge during a telephone call to Ghana president John Agyekum Kufuor to congratulate him on the performance of the Black Stars at the tournament.

"The Saudi prince congratulated the president for the performance of the Black Stars at the tournament and donated US$100,000 to the team," Andrew Awuni, press secretary to the president said on Sunday.

Ghana face world champions Brazil on Tuesday in Dortmund.
