Coach Luis Oliveira Goncalves hailed his side's goalless draw against Mexico, claiming it announced Angola's arrival on football's big stage.
Goncalves insisted his side deserved a draw against Mexico
Keeper Joao Ricardo was named man of the match for the African side after a string of impressive saves kept Mexico at bay in Hanover.
But Goncalves insisted his side were good value for a point.
"We controlled the game," he said. "The draw is a signal that we have arrived and are building a very good team."
However, he also took time to pay tribute to Mexico, who will progress to the second round from Group D with a draw against Portugal in Gelsenkirchen on 21 June.
He said: "It was a good performance by us, especially as it came against a very strong Mexican team."
