1552: He Shoots...
As well as Spain have played, I must say I'm disappointed at Ukraine. I thought they'd be a definite dark horse, but they've offered little. Spain on the other hand, impressive. Hope they haven't peaked too early.
1547: Go_Spidey_Go
Had a feeling that this might finally be Spain's year to do something - not saying that they are going to go all the way but if they brazil in the quarter's that will be a very close match - Villa will be the top scorer now and will probably move to Madrid or Barca in the summer.

What a super goal for Torres, such passing quality and a great finish! Wonderful stuff. Very good performance from Spain today. Ref. has had a bit of a stinker but even so they have been superior. Even allowing for club bias I think Alonso had a terrific match and Garcia proves again that given a wee bit of room he is very effective.

This is not making good reading for me stuck in the office this afternoon. I have got Ukraine in the sweepstake! I honestly thought they would do well in this competition and didn't rate Spain to go very far. I know this is only one match, but looks like I couldn't have been more wrong.
1525: OZZY_LFC
Ukraine are awful. They are so slow all over the pitch. Their midfield is non-existent and in the first half they kicked more long balls than England
.

It's about time one team really dominated a game. maybe this will make the other top seeds take notice. This could be the turning point and where the competition gets interesting.
1511: Gagalulu
Spain looks the most balanced team so far. But the most outrageous penalty decision I have ever seen given. This referee must be fired-- at this level of professionalism, such decisions ruin the spirit of the game.
1507: Hoochymamacita
Awful decision. Maybe a free-kick, never a red card. Absolutely disgraceful. This game should be poised at 2 - 1 with 22 men on the pitch!!
1504: Gavi19
Oh dear, what a shocking decision by the ref, a red card and penalty. And so it's 3-0. That ref won't be refereeing anymore games at this tournament you can bet.
1457: The Pain
I still don't rate Villa and apart from that free-kick, he's not been on the same wavelength as Torres and Garcia, who have both been excellent. Wouldn't be surprised if he was subbed.
1444: Besonders
As half-time approaches, so far as control-and-pass is concerned, I'd make Spain the best footballing side so far.
1434: Cold War Kid
Garcia, Villa and Torres look just too much for the Ukraine. They are playing very well. Based on all WC teams so far, you'd have to say Spain are right up there
1428: Blue3000
I'm not looking to make excuses for Ukraine as they have poor so far, but I am starting to wonder the effect of the 34 degrees heat at the game - it's got to be an advantage to a lot of the Spanish players.
1422: Clive.Walkers.Raincoat!
2-0 Spain after 15 minutes. Maybe the underachievers will finally get it together this year?
1405: elven_highlord
Going on strength of players in the squad alone, you would have to make Spain one of the four best teams in the tournament. Their squad is packed with classy players, but that has been said in numerous other tournaments as well. I hope they do well, because they have flair and can play exciting football.
1405: Colonel Red
This could be a cracker, with Xavi and Xabi Alonso the passing in Spain's midfield is as good as any, but with Shevchenko around you never know.
1356: Bench
Let's all just hope for a good game. Although it's over 34c there today so the teams will drop off in the 2nd half.
1348: Taff at the top
Spain are almost identical to England at the moment. Some good individuals, very poor team ethic, poor up front, over-hyped, never win anything. The only difference is that the Spanish fans don't throw bottles at the police
1342: ellimleeuk
I think it is a tough game for the Spaniards, not many teams go to Turkey and win there. It is great news that Shevchenko is playing, he'll cause Spain some problems.
1335: The Pain
Reyes should have been put there ahead of Villa. Him and Torres have a superb understanding. The more partnerships you have, the better for your team.
1328: JordanOldham
Spain always look poor in the major tournaments, I can see a Ukraine win.
1324: Gavi19
I reckon Ukraine might have got something out of the game had the weather been in their favour, but surely this climate will suit the Spaniards and they should get the three points even though I can see them struggling for goals like the French.
1316: majorharryflashman
It looks like a good new Spain team Villa, Torres up front will bring goals galore. Who needs Raul and Morientes. Xavi is class so is Alonso. May be a bit light weight but I hope they go well this year. Viva Espana
