World Cup Group H
World Cup wallchart

BBC Sport Online looks at the countries drawn in Group H at the 2002 World Cup finals.

JAPAN
Coach: Philippe Troussier
The co-hosts along with Korea.

Coach Philippe Troussier has an array of talent at his disposal but it is unlikely that Japan will reach the latter stages of the tournament.

Japan boast the attacking skills of Feyenoord's Shinji Ono, Arsenal's Junichi Inamoto and their prime asset, Parma's Hidetoshi Nakata.

But Japan could be relying most heavily on their goalkeeper, Portsmouth's Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi.

BELGIUM
Coach: Robert Waseige

The only team to have qualified for the last six World Cup finals without being holders or hosts.

They finished as runners-up in their qualifying group behind Croatia, scoring 25 goals in the process.

Belgium drew 2-2 with Scotland in Glasgow and then delivered a major blow to the hopes of Craig Brown's side by winning 2-0 in Brussels.

Belgium enjoyed an outstanding World Cup in Mexico in 1986 but fell victim to the brilliance of Diego Maradona, who scored twice in a 2-0 win in the semi-finals.

RUSSIA
Coach: Oleg Romantsev

Have reached only their second World Cup since the break up of the former Soviet Union.

Russia won their qualifying group, pulling off some impressive victories, such as beating their Slav neighbours Yugoslavia in Belgrade.

They are always well-organised and difficult to beat but lack the real quality to be genuine contenders.

TUNISIA
Coach: Dergaa Fethy

Qualified for their third World Cup finals by coming through their African qualifying group unbeaten.

One of the powerhouses of North African football along with Morocco.

Likely to be competitive but not strong enough to trouble the major nations.
