Israel match rearranged
Austrian captain Andreas Herzog
Herzog ready to lead his players in the crucial game
The postponed World Cup qualifier between Israel and Austria will be played on 27 October, football's world governing body, Fifa, has announced.

The Group Seven qualifying match had been scheduled for 7 October but Fifa president Sepp Blatter called the game off following the plane crash in the Black Sea last week.

Israeli Football Association chairman Gavri Levy had described Fifa's original decision for postponement as "misguided" and "arbitrary".

In a statement, Fifa said the decision had been taken "in consultation with the two involved national associations of Israel and Austria".

Israel need to win the game to pip Austria for second position to earn a place in the World Cup qualifying play-offs against Turkey in November.

A venue for the match has yet to be named.
